thoughts of the week

How many times do you read something and it never hits you. And then at the most random time, you hear someone else say it and it all clicks?!?!!?!?!?! A few Wednesdays ago josh and I were at youth group. We are doing a reality based serious for the summer. We got these DVD that is a reality "show" called the G.O.S.P.E.L journey. This pastor got 7 or 8 teens together and they talk about what they believe and how it's all different. He started out his talk in the book of Genesis. How many times in your life have you read or talked about, or even spoke on the creation story. I know I have. But it wasn’t until he read it that something amazing struck me. When God was creating something he would just speak it into existence. He wanted light…. So there was light. He wanted animals… BAM there were animals. But then it came to making man. First of all, he made us last. And I don’t think that it was by chance. He planned us to be last. And it think it’s because he wanted to take his time with us. We, as humans, require a little more TLC. The Holy trinity honored humanity by making us in There image. They took the time to design us and to form us like Them. They took their breath of life and gave it to us. God didn’t take something that was already holy, like an angle to live on the earth and to look after it, He made something like himself. All of that is so AMAZING to me. He did all of that so we could walk with Him and worship Him. How long did it last? Does it say in the bible how long they walked with God before we screwed it up? I don’t know, but none the less it did happen. I don’t like it when people blame the bad things in life on Adam and Eve. The truth is if any of us where in that position, would we have never eaten from the tree? Would we have taught our children not to eat from the tree? NO. My name might as well be Eve because I probably would have done the same thing. We do the same thing everyday. Everyday we are given new chances to walk with the Lord and talk with him. What do we do? We run him over with our business and idealistic ideas about what MY life SHOULD look like. I don’t know about you. But I leave Him out of a lot. Even church’s are leaving him out of a lot. It’s easy to say that we are humans and we make mistakes and God will forgive us. Don’t you think that that’s just a copout? He look the time to create us and to give us life. We screwed up and he gave us another chance. We take the time to…. What? Have our days filled with business…. Even if it’s business for God?
These are just my thoughts. It’s been a few weeks since I started thinking about God creating us and these are the spits and spats of thoughts that have come out of it.

Hey Corey - I just have to say i was really encouraged by your post. I am going through some stuff right now and when you said the line about filling our time with busyness and what we think our life should look like we quickly learn that we have no control over any of it and should devote the time to God. Sometimes we learn things the hard way - but I just wanted you to know that your posting helped further encourage me on my journey!
